Some of you will know that I have been bombarding nearly everywhere as regards with all things photographic. Fancied a D3100 - perfect "starter" camera but realised that, perhaps, at some point I would need to upgrade. A certain supplier from HK - no names but there is an 8 pager about them plus they are on their hollibobs - had a D5100 for the same price as a 3100 - bit of a no-brainier so was about to place an order when it all kicked off :D. So a bit more research as to prices saw me off to Jessops. Girl there did not have a clue if they had a 5100 or not. Went a bit further up the road to Campkins right opposite Kings College Cambridge. Oh, boy what an experience. Nothing was too much trouble - their 5100 had a non VR lens attached and they explained the difference between the two, other cameras were brought out and the differences explained and the basic operations of the 5100 were also explained. Eventually went for the 5100 but WITH VR lens. Sticker price was a bit more than Internet price BUT came with a whole load of extras meaning I was able to take it home and immediately start shooting with it AND put it away in its new bag something I would not have been able to do with an Internet purchase. Which, finally, brings me to my point. I got a one-to-one service something which is not possible with an Internet purchase and hopefully started a relationship with them (I can go back if I have any issues). Might have paid a bit more but in my opinion it's worth it. The Internet does have it' s place but not in this case. Guy at the shop also said how fed up they are with people buying on-line but having to come to the shop because they did not have a clue how to work it!! I recommend them 100%.
If you get this far-thanks for reading. Can you tell how excited I am :D. Now off to the 5100 owners thread.

Congratulations on the new camera and glad to hear you got good service

Been there myself, bit pricy I thought and their s/hand prices are incredibly high, also offer pitifully low part ex prices

Must be hard to compete against online business, but if you know what you want and how to work it online is considerably cheaper. Sorry to say that counts on large purchases especially when it can run into hundreds of pounds saved
