Been looking online and seems you can spend more than a little. Has anyone tried simply buying a 4xl real tree long sleeve t-shirt and cutting the arm off to use as a camo lens cover? Could get mother rd6743 to sew some elastic around both ends so it fits....

Technically, you get two and have some excess camo material for whatever.

Anyone do it, or similar?

You can buy rolls of it (like elastic bandage) from Temu (I'm sure other places too)

I have tried using various camo materials in the past, however, I now use neoprene camo covers as they offer physical protection and fit snug. I have found by investigation that evilbay has some very good kit and prices that are more affordable.
I still use a camo netting at times to blur my outline.......

Well the plan evolved a little. Black Friday noticed some women's leggings for less than a long sleeve T shirt and in camo. So am thinking the taper of the leggings will work well on the lens. The other leg, could be a camo tripod / monopod cover, possibly.

Once the two legs are cut off, I'll have camo hot pants...win win all round I reckon! :)

So the leggings arrived. Cut one leg just below the knee and seems to fit well on the long lens. Cut a little hole for the qd socket. Cut the other leg a lot higher as I'll have the tapered end sewn up so it's a long shapeless sock that the tripod or monopod can go in whilst strapped to the backpack.

What was left of the leggings, I tried on, and all joking aside they feel really nice to wear. Really soft and and warm, so much so I think a full pair of leggings might be nice under the combat trousers for winter hiking!

Pictures...we need pictures! (And of the lens if you've got time.)

I used a camo neck warmer - bought 4 for about £!2 I think on Amazon. I sewed elastic on both ends (not all the way round on the camera end) and sliced underneath so my hand fits in and I can reach all the rings. Later I bought some thin green neoprene on eBay and made one that fitted, however there were still white bits showing for the tripod ring etc, so I have still used my camo 'thing' on top and it hides my hand too. It won't work if you go into portrait mode and is not perfect, but it works for me.
