Camera v's Lightroom/PS for HDR

Is it better to :

1: Take bracketed shots in camera for HDR editing in Photomatix later

or

2: Take 1 shot then save a number of different exposures as Tiffs or Jpg's for editing in Photomatix later.

Will there be a difference between the 2 ways of getting the images at different exposures?

It's better to take the three shots in camera than to use the one, for a start your not really getting true HDR from one shot, secondly you will usually get more noise. You can get a decent HDR of one shot but you'll be better off shooting 3 or more.
