Yes
...after using a long lens (my 100-400 for example) you end up with one eye still seeing at the longer focal length and the other eye at a normal distance. You end up with a similar sensation after a few brandy's. Anyone?

I was at the optitians earlier trying to explain this and she just looked at me like someone had maybe left the gas on or I was on glue.

Oh and yes, I have been given stronger lenses!

I'm guessing its not a clear cut telephoto eye sensation (a superpower we all wish we had :D), with my minute knowledge of science and the human body - this is a side effect of the part of the brain that allows us to see 24 images/second TV as a moving, fluid picture.

I mostly close my left eye when taking photos to avoid this effect.

I suffer from a similar effect and assumed my camera viewing eye was slow to focus back to normal, it happens if I have non viewing eye shut or not.

I have similar problems when attending eye tests at the opticians, when looking through their optical gadgetry my r/h eye is slow to focus on the various eye chart symbols as they displayed

This effect means my r/h eye is always trying to catchup with the next array of eye charts. This has ended up with me having several sets of glasses that are no good.

Finally met a very good optician who realized my problem and took extra time on my eye test. He said it was a common complaint in people of my learned age(57).

After 10 minutes or even less looking through my camera viewer it sometimes take several minutes to get my sight equalized afterward.

I think the only cure is alcohol as this makes both eyes equally slow to focus.

Opticians are not always right and if in doubt ask them to redo your test, or try elsewhere if they get frumpy.

I close my left eye to avoid this problem, but because my right eye is the "main" eye it tends not to be a problem :)

well thats a good one ...the other thread says leave both eyes open...i get that as well with my tiny viewing port..
the solution for me is to look at the ground for a bit

I need both eyes open. Not all the time, but once I have my camera ready, I need the other open to be able to see the cars coming!
