Hope this doesn't sound too silly but I can't make up my mind whether to keep the strap on my D40! It gets in the way and rather annoys me but there are times when I go out without my bag and I'd hate to drop the camera. It's such a fiddle putting the strap on the camera that the next time I take it off, it stays off. Do most of you opt to use a strap?
 
Always keep it on but wrap it round my wrist when using camera just in case I loose grip on camera

My D2Xs and any lens weighs a ton, and no I never use a strap of any kind.

Can't stand them, they always seem get in the way & the damn things 'hook' onto railings, door handles, anything - I swear they are alive and out to give me problems - bin it!!!
 
I hate neck straps and always use a wrist strap more as a lanyard than as a means of supporting the camera. I use the one shown below and find it very good as it simply screws into the tripod mount so I can easily swap it from camera to camera. I only wish I could find a supplier who sells them now. I've searched everywhere I know but nobody seems to make them anymore (I bought this one about 25 years ago). Anybody know where I could get one from?

Always have the strap fixed and hope soon to have one that advertises TP. :woot:
 
Thankyou all, I've decided to bin it and get a wrist strap, as I had on my previous camera.
I'll probably make one using the existing neck strap ends. thanks again, I had to make a decision!!!

If I am gonna wonder around with £2,000 worth of kit in my hand I want it secure, so I use the strap all the time, except on the tripod. I don't dangle my kit around, just in case I bang in to soemthing (christ this post is starting to sound dodgy)

Anyway, I always use my neck strap, just in case, even when changing batteries, memory card etc, wouldn't want to drop it, esp. with Battery/CF door open :thumbsdown:
