Afternoon all,

Does anyone know of any camera shops in Glasgow that have the Tamron 17-50 2.8 non-VC (Nikon Fit) in stock? I know it's a long shot but Google didn't turn up much for me. Camulet don't have any on their website so I thought I may try here. After all the reviews I've read of it I'd like to try it in store, possibly alongside similar offerings from other manufacturers, rather than buying online. All the stores round me (Dundee, Perth) don't have any in stock and I'm off to Glasgow tonight.

Thanks in advance everyone,
Leo

Give Quiggs in Parnie St. a ring.

Thank you both. I forgot about the Jessops on Sauchiehall, I usually go to the Buchanan Galleries one. I will check it out, I've emailed Merchant City Cameras too.
Thanks again.

Now called "Merchant City Cameras", you could also try the main Jessops branch in Sauchiehall St

That must be fairly recent. Website still called them Quiggs. Had a look via Google street view and the shop still had Quiggs name on it.
They have been around a long while.

I popped in the other day and it was 'Merchant City Cameras' now.

I found this
"If any of you guys know the staff at Quiggs, well Jim is opening a new store, Merchant City Cameras back in the old shop at Parnie Street.

Jim was a good friend of the original Mr Quigg (Jimmy) and latterly his son Lee but has since bought over the stock from Lee.

So basically, same staff, same address, new owner and new name. The only thing Jim is waiting on is the all clear from Glasgow City Council to get the keys to the shop (which looks like a it should be happening soon)"

As MissV says, Jim (really nice guy ) took the shop over from Quiggs. I always try and pop in if I'm down that way, which can be fatal to my wallet

Many moons ago when I worked in Glw I would wander down to that shop during lunchtime.
Always had a good stock of 2nd hand gear plus loads of bincs and scopes.
Bit of an Alladin's cave for anyone into that stuff.
