Hi all

I fell over in the snow like a little old lady last week and have damaged my canon

fortunately its insured but need to take it off to get a quote for repair somewhere in Manchester

just wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere?

Ta.

Try Callumet.

They have a depot in Manchester and will sort it out (probably via Lehmans but hey ho)

They did come up on a search but it took me to an American site, will give them a look. I've tried ringing Stephens but I'm under the impression they are just a Leica specialist and they didn't answer. Could really do without 2 trips to stoke and I don't trust couriers.

Thanks :)

Just phoned callumet they send it off to canon but saves me a drive.

2 weeks for a quote a 4 weeks for a repair thoguh :(

My son broke his 400D within a week of having it by bending/breaking the CF card pins. I sent it off to Colchester cameras who fixed it and turned it around in a week.

My 40D however has shutter issues so has gone off to Camtronics under warrenty (Jessops 3 years with D&G thrown in for free when I bought it)

Courier picked it up on Monday but it wasn't booked in until Friday - heard nothing yet :(

Your camera has come all the way from a factory in Japan already, via lorry, fork lift truck, crane, container, ship, etc, etc.

If you pack it carefully there's no reason why it shouldn't survive a return trip by post to a repair shop. To be on the safe side, though, send it by an insured service like Royal Mail Special Delivery. It costs less than £10 for a package of up to 2kg.:)
