Hello..i've been doing some gig photos recently and have noticed some strange lines running across the photo when its up on the pc..it only seems to have affected a few of them though..if anyone can shed some light onto this i'd be most grateful.Just hope it's not serious :(
Example...

Elaine. No sign of lines from my monitor.

Sometimes in Photo editing programs you will get lines at certain "zoom" settings. Try zooming in/out and see if they disappear.

HTH.

I see no lines either.

i can see them very faintly and they do appear to run across the drummers face

start immediately under the bottom of the cymbol and finish at the shoulders

I see them also, but still have no clue what it is. Not much help is that!

If you tweak the levels/contrast the lines become a lot clearer but not a clue what's causing it. It could be a smear from a sensor clean and you could check that by looking at shots before and after the last clean to see if the lines are on both or not.

I see them - what lens were you using? I sometimes get this happening with my Sigma 70-300mm lens, although not every time  Have no idea what causes it though.

Elaine,

I was reading an article in the Autumn edition of Digital Camera and it was talking about putting vaseline on a clear filter to give a steaking effect on the image...

It states that the direction of the streaking as it appears on the image, will be at 90 degrees to the direction of the streaking on the filter...So if you're streaks run vertically on the filter, they will appear horizontally in the picture...

I mention this in case it gives you a clue where you're bands are coming from..

regards,

Pete

I've not cleaned my sensor yet, only bought it about two or three months ago..it's only since last friday that the lines have popped up.
In that photo its actually more visable full size and not zoomed in..most of the photos have come out fine..i'm using the 1.8 50mm lens.
I shall try the kit lens for the next gig i do and see if that conjours up the same problems..cheers for your help everyone :)
