Hello. I hope someone here can give me some advice. I have an Olympus EPL-1 camera. It's what I carry when I want a small lightweight camera with a small zoom lens. My problem: for some reason the camera shows no image through the kit lens, just white menu items on a black screen. The longer zoom lens works just fine. I cleaned the lens and camera body contacts with alcohol, but that didn't help. Any suggestions?

Please forgive what may be a stupid question but is the lens extended and locked?
 
Have you tried extending and retracting the lens several times, in case there's dirt on the extention contact?
 
It obviously a lens problem ,try Andrew’s suggestion first ,but it sounds like an internal cable has snapped .. the good news is the camera still works with the other lens . So it’s cheaper to buy a used small zoom than have it repaired.. presuming it’s not taking photos either
