Anyone got an idea of how I can make an image of a camera iris a bit like in the beginning of the early 007 films.
I don’t fancy smashing a good lens to do it.
Thanks for any help you can give

I would think the pen tool would be easiest, make one leaf then copy it, the pen tools great for drawing curves.
I have taken an iris apart and put it back together (many moons ago) never again! total nightmare.

Hi. Google 'lens aperture blades' - pull up quite a few to get you started.

Actually the image at the beginning of the Bond films is a simulation of looking through the barrel of a gun. The bits that make it look like an iris is actually the rifling within the barrel.

I think the idea is to represent a possible assasin that Bond reacts to with a quick spin and a single shot, hence the blood scrolling down the screen and the image suddenly wavering as the would be assailant goes down.

Actually thats a good point.

Try filling a layer with grey, drawing some thin black lines across the centre then filter/distort/twirl, that might need a bit of fiddling but should be close-ish.

Thanks for all the replies, I will now go play. I am just trying to dress up an image of a model with a 9mm Browning high power in her hand

Replica , not happy with people pointing live weapons my way

btw She is holding her wrist Hollywood style so would most likely take the top of her thumb off if it could fire
