Hello everyone

I am looking at buying a new camera for the wife (compact digital) and being as I have a canon figured I would get her a canon one also.

I have about £250 to spend on it for her and she does not want a bridge camera.

Do you experienced folk have any recommendations at all.

Thank you.

Camera for the wife
We'll need to see pictures of the wife before we offer a swap:lol:

We're here all week......

Try the chicken!

Seriously, the A95 has good reviews. But without more clues to her priorities it's difficult to say.

She will be snapping the kids mainly and would like something with good picture quality, good in dark conditions, zoom etc.

She won't be too fussed about settings but I think if I get her a decent camera she will actually learn more about it and enjoy it as I have with my 500d.

How about a Fuji X10. On the refurb store, discount code P10FEB15. Just over £260 delivered. Great camera...

I know you're thinking Canon but have a look at the Olympus XZ-1. Reasonable zoom and excellent in low light conditions. Shoots raw also so more ability to recover from the quick snapped shot that didn't quite come off right.

Thanks for the replies.

We have had a look on the web and I think she will choose the canon s100. She had a canon prior to "upgrading" to her current luminix that she hates so she feels comfortable With the canon brand.

The s100 looks packed with features some of them are similar to the ones in my 500d lol might even be better.

You're approaching this all wrong! Give her the 500D and treat yourself to a new 5D Mark III.

LMFAO.

This was the first thing I suggested actually but not a 5D would have to have been lower value one. But the issue is she wants one that fits into her handbag etc. I even offered to buy her a new handbag lol

Looks like a good choice and a model on my shortlist and modchild has pointed out a really good price.

Don't think about the Sony compacts as I have just sent a HX20v back as felt IQ was not there and there was a mottling effect when the picture was enlarged which surprised me to say the least. My old Panasonic TZ8 took better shots and I was expecting the IQ to have come on.

So good luck and let us know what you buy

The perfect camera would be one that has a completely flat metal surface on one side which could be used to iron your shirts when shes not taking photos, perhaps even with a vacuum attachment and fold out airer for those rainy days.
.........incoming!!!!!!!!!!!!

A decision - good - but is it on on order - if by post you will have 7 days to send it back - then back to the drawing board
