Greetings all.

Can anyone recommend a camera that me and my sister can get my mum for her 60th birthday? She's been rolling with a Canon Powershot A510 for years now (a whole 3.2 megapixels!), and given that it now asks her what the date is every time she switches it on, I think it's time she was given a new one! Given that she seems quite content with the picture quality of the A510, the main thing I'm concerned with is usability. So far as I know she doesn't particularly want to get bogged down in photography jargon, just wants to be able to take photos quickly and easily. Small fiddly buttons and hard to navigate menus aren't really a good idea here. That's about it really! Our budget is £100. Thanks for your help everyone! :)

Yeah, was just talking to my sister about the viewfinder. She probably does use it, and then I stumbled across the A1300. Problem being it seems to only get average reviews. Hmm, food for thought, thanks.

I'm sure though that today's average is still a lot better than the A510. If you want an optical viefinder, I think it's either that or the more expensive G series from Canon or the Nikon P6000, P7000, etc. (although even Nikon have done away with the viewfinder on the latest P7700 model).

Steve.

Tom, read the reviews again and see exactly why some aren't glowing - it could well be that the camera lacks controllability or that A3 prints aren't sharp and from the sound of it, that won't matter to your mum!
