Edit My Images
Yes
First post here so usual apologies if a thread exists.

I have been using for a long time now a Minolta Dimage A2, with Dimage Capture, this allows me to remotely control all camera settings and focus and activate the shutter remotely using a PC, the resulting image drops straight onto the PC.

With this I can place the camera on a tripod 20M away for garden wildlife, and also easly handle product photography in that I do not need space for me in the setup.

Is this feature available on any of the current SLR's?

Thanks..

Thanks for that, looks promising, do you know if it provides a viewfinder image? it doesn't seem clear on that, it mentions "viewer" which I assume is stored images.

My first thought was unlikely as the mirror is in the way, second thought, maybe it lifts the mirror if that's an electromechanical function these days.

You wont get software alone to provide a viewfinder image from an SLR, due to the way SLR's work.

Ok, thanks, I guess I'll stay with the Minolta then, it looks as though Olympus could do it, but don't, I'll keep an eye on them.

No live preview but Canon dslr cameras can be controlled by the pc, via either canon software or DSLR Remote Pro by breezesys.

I can see this is useful and to some degree does the job, it's just that currently I have a live preview and with a mouse click can focus anywhere on screen.

I'm certainly tempted to get back to SLR's, I just know my luck, as soon as I invest, another will come out with this feature.
