Hey All

I'm sad :( I went to Scotland and took some, what I thought were nice pictures. It would appear that when taking sunsets there are marks on the images! I noticed that there was marks on the lens so cleaned it and off on my merry way. All seemed good until I took some sunsets in America and the marks are there again. From this I conclude its dust on the sensor.

I have a Canon DSLR 400D, I don't know whether to attempt cleaning the sensor myself or take it in somewhere. The problem is it only shows on certain shots and I cannot be certain it is clean.

If there is any advice you could share or know a reliable camera cleaner in the Shropshire area it would be greatly appreciated.

I use a lenspen sensorklear and it works well for dust bunnies.

To check if you've cleared them all, take a shot at f22 for example of a white wall / price of paper and they'll show up if they're there.

I've got a lenspen sensorklear kit with rocket blower and loupe. I usually find a good blow with the rocket blower gets rid of most dust bunnies, specially if done regularly, and most time the actual sensor pen isn't needed.

Go to the manual clean in your menu settings and it'll flip the mirror up, face the body downwards and blow it a few times. Give it another try and if it's still dusty then I'll use the pen to give it a wipe with that. I've done it about 7 or 8 times and it's quite easy after the first time.

Thanks for the quick replies! I'm on it!

Reports back later.

Cheers Stu
