I currently have a Tamrac Expedition 5 backpack which hold most of my gear. I don't know if it is just me being picky but I sometimes find it a pain in the bum having to take it off my back then lay it down somewhere when I want to retrieve something such as a lens etc from the backpack.

I sometimes like to travel as light as I can, 2 lenses 100-400L and 17-85 IS kit lens plus camera, nothing else apart from small stuff like spare battery and flash card.

What would be the ideal bag that would hold a Canon 40D with a 100-400L lens attached and easy to retrieve and replace from the bag without having to lay the bag down on the ground or wherever and also hold a 2nd smaller lens plus a couple of pockets. Am I asking for too much here?

I have a Kata 3N1 - 30 its brilliant

sling type bag
full back pack with support belt for those longer treks
all the straps tuck away nicely for airports etc it even has a loop where you can attach a trolly of handle of a flight bag.

The only problem I have is its too heavy sometimes, but thats not the bags fault its the rediculas amount of gear I tend to cart around!

The tripod attachment is pretty good as well both for tripods and lightstands

BTW it will easily accommodate the 100 - 400 attached I have my Siggy 70 - 200 with the hood on

i have the slingshot 200, but my 100-400 would not fit so i went for the kata 205, but you would still have to lay it down,...maybe the slingshot 300?? not sure on dimensions ***
