Hello,

I am looking to purchase a cute camera bag, specifically made for the ladeez... No dark boring colours...

I am loving these but are from the USA and the shipping costs are soooooooooo expensive..

http://photojojo.com/store/awesomeness/slr-sloop-camera-bag/

Does anyone know of anyone who can custom make bags... or know of any girly camera bags anywhere....

crumpler?

Crumpled do a red or cream bag too, but nothing really girly as I've looked too! I'd be interested if you find anything! :)

No I don't but it's so frustrating!

I settled for a couple "boring" but "practical" bags but decided to jazz them up myself with stylish pin badges & bag keyrings from Accessorize & Next.

The boys will be cringing at us but they have to realise & appreciate that this is an issue with us ladies.

I have been tempted to mention it to a local dressmaker to see if she could attach some kind of cover or strips of material sewn onto it to make it "my own"

Maybe we should get some ideas together & get ourselves on Dragons Den :D:D:D

I love the bowling bag - so cute.. but the straps seem too small to hang over your shoulder..

Lets come up with some ideas and possibly post pictures of bags we are using and maybe jazzy ideas from each other might give us better ideas..

It is frustrating and have to sorry to the lads...

I saw lovely girly ones in Currys - I was shopping with a male friend and the conversation went something like this.

Me - Oooh, a purple one!
Him - its too small, this one will hold all your stuff and is much cheaper.
Me - And its got a lovely liliac lining...
Him - its too small, you'll only fit your camera in with lens attached, no room to carry an extra lens or anything else.
Me - but its purple....
Him - ... and its too small!

(EDIT - it was a Golla bag

I got the boring black one, it carries my camera, spare lens, flash, batteries, filters - and purse, phone, umbrella etc - which makes it very practical. But definitely not very girly.

My consolation was that it only cost £10 so I can justify buying another one at some point...

(PS - the bowler bag is cute but its small. A friend has one - my D90 with 18-105 kit lens just about fitted in but it was hard to get it zipped shut.)

how much kit you carrying?

Looks like (from Lizzie VVs profile)

Main Camera
Canon EOS 500D
Lens #1
Canon EF-S 18-55 mm IS Lens

Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III Lens

You wont get that tele zoom in the bowler.

See purple is lovely... I have seen the pink one of these but is a tad small..

Why not Liz, try here
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/wendysale188/Camera-Inner-Bag-/_i.html?_fsub=2769855011&_sid=1016359351&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322

or

http://www.calumetphoto.co.uk/eng/browse/categories/bags-tripods/camera-bags-cases-straps/padded-case-dividers/_/brands/billingham

The bag you linked to is substantially deeper than these inserts but no reason it wouldnt work or better still try to find a bag whose inner matches the dimensions of whatever dividers you need.
Look lets be honest here ladies... buy the dividers you need depending on the camera gear you want to carry. Once you have the dividers you then have to trail round the shops looking for a suitable bag
i.e. 'Retail Heaven' and a win win situation.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Loving the Wendys Sale inserts.. what a fab idea!!

Loving this thread! I have so many bags at home that I love and can now have a reason to keep because I have a very valid use for them all!!! Yippee, Thanks Gazamonk and LizzieVV!!!

Yep - just too small to be useful, even though cute.

Gary - you're a star! Those are perfect. I'd just been thinking earlier when I saw this thread if there was any way of 'customising' a large handbag to become a camera bag. Getting the dividers, then shopping for a bag to fit them sounds like a plan!

There are a lot of bright colours Dave but they are not camera bags just messenger/laptop bags unfortunately. :'(

Don't know which website you are looking at, but there are lots of camera bags on the one that I am looking at.

And they have lots of colours too..

But seriously ladies, if this is actaully a problem, then it might actually be worthwhile getting together and talking to the people at crumpler.

If you can demonstrate a need, then I rreckon they are the type of company who will embrace the challenge.

What kind of bag do you want? Something between this, and a lowepro I would guess? but with pretty colours.

Personally, I got The Big Cheese, in the green version: http://www.crumpler.eu/index.cfm?seite=photo&productID=6506&sprache=EN
The quality of their products is good I reckon.

I just bought a largeish bag from M&S and use that when I am out and about.

It fits my 40D + 17-85mm or 10-22 and also my 70-200 f2.8, 1.4x tc, 2x tc, filters, purse, keys, sunglasses, phone and still some space left for a bit of makeup too! However, I don't use dividers or padded cases. I figure I have never thrown my bag around intentionally before, I certainly wouldn't be doing it with camera kit in it!

Back in June Photoplus did an item on ladies camera bags with the idea of carrying a dslr couple of lenses etc Think Tank Retrospective 20 came out top in Grey or Black with Crumpler Cupcake 7500 in 2nd place Green Grey or black.

But why not buy a bag you like that will be big enough and make your own dividers pockets etc to go in it to extra protect your gear. I converted a fishing bag from Aldi last year which my son uses. Go to your nearest horse tack shop and you can get the foam cotton lined stuff they put under bandages on a horses legs is brilliant for dividers to give that extra bit of cushioning for protection should the bag get pumped or knocked.

Yes I know they have lots of camera bags Coldpenguin :naughty: I own 5 of them but read the original posts. The girls want something feminine and girly and the only camera bag that crumpler have in the latest range that comes even close to that criteria is the NEW DEHLI in red all the rest excepting a red backpack are boring blacks or earthy/nature colours (browns, greys, greens etc). The ladies want girly chic and a bit of bling. The one you pointed out is camera cover not a bag.

Ditto!

My other half said yesterday "Suppose you're gonna need yet another bag to go with that camera!" So I started researching and couldn't find anything I liked, though I was going to end up with a boring black one :(

Get a Boring one, and make a Cover? My Finance did that for some of her portable lab gear.

Thanks.. It seems a tad on the small size...can it fit over the arm properly?
It is small, which is why I'd never bought one before now, but I picked one up at my local Jessops this morning for £4.95 and its worth that. My D90 with 18-200 lens just about squeezes in, and there isn't room for much more. There are loops at either side so you could attach a shoulder strap (but they aren't metal so would wear over time).

I didn't buy it full price, because of the size, but couldn't resist it when it was under £5!

CosyCameras have a small range of camera bags designed especially for women:http://www.cosycameras.co.uk/index.php?action=index but I have to say that I prefer the ones that were reviewed by Vrinda on her blog: http://blog.vrindawebb.com/. Just one of a range of lovely looking bags available for sale on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/search/handmade?ref=auto&q=camera+bags+dslr&view_type=gallery&ship_to=GB

I'm still carrying around my 'manly' bags but have recently been toying with the idea, suggested earlier in this thread, of buying a separate padded insert and using my own bag. I've been considering using a baby changing bag: they're roomy, tend to be made of waterproof material and I can see how the soft, padded changing mat could come in useful. I think I like the idea, when I'm out and about by myself, of people wondering where my baby is, rather than them wondering about just what kit I have in my camera bag. :)
