Yes
Is there a camera bag out there that has enough space to carry a 500mm lens?

I'm after a rucksack style bag if at all possible.

My current Lowepro Slingshot has enough space for all my kit, except my 500mm lens.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Which 500mm lens do you have?

There are a variety of 500mm sizes - a 500/4 prime is much bigger than the sigma XX-500 zoom lenses.

Oh yeh. LOL.
I've got a 150-500mm Sigma lens.

It's a fair length, and as the camera goes sideways into the Slingshot, it won't fit.

Can you give us some idea of the size of your lens?

As in the actual physical length?

If so, it's 28cm (11") long, and 14cm (5.5") wide at the tripod collar.
Although that could be removed if needs be.

I use a Flipside 400 with my Sigma 120-300/2.8 which is quite a bit bigger than the 150-500. There should be ample room for one, plus your camera body, lots of other lenses and stuff. ;)

It's a very comfortable bag, actually much more so than the smaller Flipside 300 which I also have, it has wider straps and is better padded, it makes a big difference.

Highly recommended!

Cool beans. Cheers!

I'll have to have a look into that one.
How come the 300mm is longer than the 500mm? Is it just because it's a f/2.8?

Crumpler Muffin Top Full Photo backpack will also do the trick

The 500mm extends when it zooms. The 120-300mm doesn't - and it's F2.8 so is naturally larger anyway.

Right,

I've got my Flipside 400 bag, but I can't work out the best place to put the big lens.

Any ideas?!
