Hi everyone,

I'm a Computer Science student at the University of Cambridge, and as part of a group project, we're designing a weather app specifically tailored for photographers. We're aiming to understand what weather conditions and features actually matter most when planning photography sessions.

We've put together a short (3–5 min) questionnaire to help guide our design. It’s completely anonymous unless you choose to leave your email, and all responses will be used solely for academic research.

We’d really appreciate any thoughts, feedback, or suggestions you have! Thanks so much for your time!

This appears to be a genuine request, and the survey link is genuinely from UoC. Not a very well designed survey though, I think the tutor ought to have something to say about that when the project is graded, however if it helps them with their project I'm ok with letting it be seen and responded to on TP.

I dont really get the point (but did do it). Weather can be different just a few miles away so if Cambridge is raining, me being 7 miles west may not be.

I do look mainly for days out & airshows and if its sunny and nice then more likely to go, if its rain I wont. Cant see an app giving me more insight to change my decision.

Another app using the same models everyone else does isn’t going to give any different weather than what’s available from existing apps none of which are accurate anyway.

I look out the window.

Because the survey uses Google Forms and the link goes into a google address and it says "This form was created inside University of Cambridge." at the bottom. Of course there could be clever spoofing going on, but when the data being collected is so bland, I can't see why anyone would go to that trouble.

Be aware that your e-mail address is visible if you choose to leave it...

I filled it in, but possibly the most important question- and the reasons my answers were worthless - wasn't asked and the answer assumed. "Do you have a smart phone" to which my answer would have been "no" :)
