Hello everyone.
I just graduated from photography school not long ago and I want to build a mobile lighting set since I often shoot on location. My main goal is shooting product and food photography and therefore I have got a set of barely used Bowens GM400 and now need some softbox for it. I can get some Calumet Illuma Small NOS for 40 a set, also Calumet Softstrip 100 which I think is like Plume Wafer Strip for 20 a set. Are they enough for my use? Is the build quality that much inferior to Bowens Wafer and Plume one?

Yes it's not as well made but I don't think it's going to matter to your results.

In time you'll probably develop a preference for certain brands but right now I would think it makes most sense to just practice or if you really must spend money, do it on something that allows you to do something you currently can't. If you need more softboxes it would make sense to stick to the same brand as some can differ quite a bit on colour temperatures, so I would prioritise one you can reliably source.

Thank you sir, that's why I choose to stick with Calumet for now.
