And how exactly does Amazon or whoever allow you to handle a product (DSR aside)? You say they can't expect to make a sale without a bit of effort, the trouble is they do, or they rely on customers being dishonourable enough to try kit in store and then buy from an internet supplier.
I agree with you completely on this point, and that has a lot to do with some people on here telling others that they should do exactly that and then go and buy online. You see it time after time in these threads and it's totally unfair on the retailers.
But, if the retailers want to make a sale they have to go the extra mile to get it. I'm sure the retailers looking on here and other forums must be so deflated every time they see it. But the fact is that they need to do everything they can to not put potential customers off. I've bought online a few times, but I've also been into a shop to ask for advice before buying from them.
I can honestly say I've never been into a shop and ask to handle a camera before buying it online, my first dslr was a Canon 550D ordered online before I'd even seen one in the flesh. I've also bought a 5D2 online after using a friens for an hour or so and a 5D3 without seeing or touching one.
Also let me make one thing clear, well done Calumet for taking the steps to help out other companies customers when needed in warranty claims. In no way was I disparaging Calumet in my first post.
