Yes
I've recently bought a Fuji XF 50-140mm from this forum, on my first use of it I noticed the focus is extremely noisy if the camera is pointed upward i.e more than 15-20 degrees above the horizontal.
It makes a weird grinding sound, but when the camera is level or even pointing down, the focus is silent.
it's not the floating element clunking sound I'm talking about, its the focus motor(s) make this weird sound. I've owned pretty much every Fuji X lens at some point and never encounter a sound like this, the 35mm f/1.4 is noisy all the time, but not this loud.
I've put a video on Flickr, if you own this lens, can you please watch the video and tell me if this is normal ?
Thanks

I can't tell you if it's normal but I can tell you that it doesn't sound normal to me. I just pointed mine (attached to an X-T2) at the celing and it sounds the same as it does when you point it at something on the floor, i.e. almost silent. Are you on an X-H camera with IBIS?

Yes it was on my X-H1, I also tried it on my X-Pro 2 with the same result, so it’s obviously not ibis related.

The lens is working well, I love it but the noise makes me very worried

I’d ask @Dangermouse1964 to send it to Fuji under warranty repair, I’ve had 2 and they never made that sound.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses

I bought one of these last week and it doesn’t make that noise. There’s surely something wrong with it.

Send it back Jim I will refund, will speak tomorrow after I finish work

I will need to check serial first obviously on FPS only takes 5 mins
