I bought a 55" Samsung 4K TV recently. I've connected it to my laptop and want to calibrate it but can't get the results as I expect.

I'm using a ColorMunki Photo but when the calibration is complete, everything looks really red/burgundy in colour. I tried it a couple of times with no luck.

I noted that in the ColorMunki software, that there's as Samsung checkbox. I tried it but it made no difference. Another thing that was weird was that when adjusting the brightness, the device had me turn down the TV brightness, almost to 0 (as low as it goes, not just black screen).

Are these problems to do with the brightness or are there some settings on the TV or some kind of colour correction stuff I need to turn off?

it all depends on wether the TV can be truly calibrated?
It may not support full gamut of colours etc, it is after alla TV and pushed out a lot of brightness compared to a monitor.

Also is it backlit?
my monitor is backlit and I have to turn that down a lot to get it to match my prints.

What model is your Samsung tv?

Well interestingly, it told me to turn it down but in the end I turned it back up and that's when it more closely matched what I had on my screen.

As your telly is new sometimes it takes a while for someone to find some good calibrated settings there is a owners thread on the 6000 series on AV forums but would appear no one has cracked it yet hope this below maybe of some help

Hi try these settings as a starting point
Ah thanks. I will have a look at that later.

I was getting a bit panicky when I was calibrating it last night because I had a viewing booked in where I needed to use it. I uninstalled everything and made do at the time. To be fair, it's not too bad out of the box.
