Got a cake smash booked in for next month and I'm good for props and bunting etc but what I'm currently looking at is the backdrop and flooring for it.

I have a nice white vinyl that I use for portraits that won't be coming anywhere near an infant and cake, plus it's white and doesn't fit the shoot, so I'm looking at blue paper rolls from Colorama.

Mainly they are 1.35m wide which I don't think will be wide enough or 2.72m which will but not very easy to transport or set up on location.

I did come across a Colorama Chromablue roll that's 1.72m wide which is ideal but I'm unsure on the blue hue as it's a little garish.

Can I ask what backdrops people are using for their cake smash shoots please!

If I get a roll of paper then happy days, I'll infinity curve it and use it for the flooring also but if there is a better alternative to paper then I may use some click together dark wood laminate?

Any help is appreciated :)

Thanks.

I personally prefer paper but there's plenty of companies now doing squared backdrop and/or floor. 1.35M is too small, you'll need wider than that. Most of my rolls I bought at full size and cut down to around 2.2M which is the widest I can squeeze into my own living room. Simple enough to do with a tenor saw. There's a place that cuts rolls to size too (think it's creative backgrounds) but offer the colorama papers. Both colorama and lastolite do the blue I think you refer to, Colorama is Lagoon Blue from memory which is lovely for boys.
