Yes
Amazon are selling Goodyear efficient grips for £44 in my size. This is at least £20 cheaper than anywhere local I've found. If I order two I think I could get them in the boot for the trip somewhere to be fitted.

But, how/where do they deliver (i.e. deliver straight to a local fitter or to your home first?) and how do you then get them fitted? and how much roughly for fitting, valves, balancing etc?

Anyone ordered tyres online before and can spill the beans on the process/extra costs?

Cheers.

Oh and a little ps, how do you report posts these days?

I have those, I'd strongly reccommend you get Uniroyal Rainsport 3s instead, very very similar tyres but the Rainsports are just that little bit better. Anyway.... Depending on site you can buy them fully fitted at one of their partner stores, where they will deliver them and then you turn up and have them fitted or they simply get sent to you by courier and you have to go and find somewhere to fit them yourself. They are very soft sidewalled so easy to squeeze into the boot. Also, check ebay - I bought my Goodyears from the same company through their ebay shop for less money than they were charging on their own website.

Remember that you'll get quoted between £10 and £20 a corner for fitting so it might not be that cheap after all!

I must admit I used to do this but have stopped now, to many stories of bad service taking tyres to the cheapest fitter etc.
I have come to the conclusion there are some things you just don't skimp on and tyres and car servicing etc top of my list.

I have now used a local expert tyre fitter called Pit Stop in the Huddersfield area and I have a banter and get a good price and great service,

You hit the little word on the bottom right hand side of the post.
The one that says Report ;)

last couple of pair of tyres i bought i ordered through asda who use halfords for their fitting service

http://www.asdatyres.co.uk/goodyear/efficientgrip-performance

i thought it was a reasonably priced service with no messing around with ordering and then sourcing a tyre fitter, you pay over the counter when halfords fit them which i thought was nice
the last time i had tyres fitted and balanced etc it cost £12 a corner at international tyres which seemed to be the going rate at the time

I recently needed 4 tyres for my car. I found Black Circles were cheaper than most places and the fitting service options were great ended up having mine done at ATS. www.blackcircles.com
Yes I ve just been on their site funnily enough and 2 of the goodyears are less than £120 fitted locally. Cant argue with that. *As long* as the price you pay on the website is it. And theres no other hidden, extra charge when you turn up at the fitting place.

I can only go off my experience and say whatever it says on the web is what you pay. Th only thing to watch is when you select where you want them fitting, some of the garages show a fitting charge, I simply selected one which was free. Most of the major chains like Halfords and ATS seem to be using them now. I ended up paying just under £500, whereas Kwik Fit wanted nearly £700!!

Defo a better bet !

I think I have used these guys before as well a few years ago for the Citroen and it was ATS

Did you pay online in advance or when you went to get the tyres fitted?
Ta.

I've used on line (but fully fitted) previously for father in law and was able to choose local garage that we knew to have ten fitted by - so no issues and saved money.

Have used Costco many times and been very happy with their service - mainly Michelin tyres, although they sometimes do other makes as well.

Last set I got main dealer to price match to Asda tyres of all places !!!

On Android you press the 3 dots at the top of the screen, that brings down a menu with Report amongst it.
Just need someone on Apple and windows phone now to complete the set :-)

Last couple of times I've needed tyres, I've ended up buying them from and having them fitted through the main dealer for the same price that I could get them through Black Circles.

I'm on android, but not the App.

One last question, the online price includes, balancing and new valves? Ta.

Everything was included in my deal with Black Circles and I also paid them directly. I was also able to choose my fitting company and had the luxury of selecting a time slot from their calendar! (y) It was a pair of Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance tyres I got and I've been happy with them so far, although I haven't done a huge mileage with them.

My last set of tyres was from tyresonthedrive a full set of Goodyear F1. They were the cheapest by far and guess what, they do it on your drive way.

Believe it or not, my local Tesco has a fitting bay too, and when I checked, yes they are £10 more fitted than "mail order"
But I can't quibble at the price quoted

Me too, they tell you about the nearest fitters and the price includes fitting.

Excellent company!

Mine are still over 3mm, but when they're nearer 2mm I will be giving them a go.

I've used camskill.co.uk a few times now, were cheaper than blackscircles although their website isn't as pretty, would happily use any major online provider.
My local little shop's happy to fit tyres I've had delivered - they can't match the tyre prices but happy to fit them to get the business. YMMV ;)
You can probably get a decent mobile fitter to come and fit them for you.

On the tyres - second recommendation for Uniroyal Rainsports, great performance wet or dry. At least as good as Goodyear Eagles, and they didn't fall to bits like the Eagles (felt great but died fast). In fact the Uniroyals survived my recent first trackday and held up well, very grippy at high speed and nice forgiving breakaway in the dry...though now a little bit melty!

I have used camskill.co.uk a few times now but local tyre centres did not want to fit them & the small garages didn't have the equipment to fit low profile (35) on 19's.
Was luck to find someone who could do the job but was not a cheep as I first thought.

I also contacted camskill.co.uk customer sevices & asked them for their best price. They were very helpful & told me to contact them next week when they received a new delivery. This advice saved me £40 (£10 per tyre)

I wouldn't have thought it would be any cheaper than just buying direct from a garage once fitting etc is added. My local independent garage makes approx £8 for selling and fitting a tyre

I think it depends on where you live. In my area after market fitting varies between 10-15 pounds per corner. It used to be 5-8. The last few years I've either used black circles or asda tyres who use a local fitter anyway, or tyresonthedrive.

Another happy customer of Asda tyres . I'd shopped around and they seemed the best with the fitting price . Next day fitting as well if you order in time.

The last set of 4 tyres that I purchased on line saved me £200.
I went around the local garages (big & small) & no one could match the price. I was even shown by one garage the price they pay from the supplier & that was cheaper than I had been quoted.
However, I think a lot of this comes down to the fact that I have 19 inch rims on the car & if I had smaller (13-17 inch) then the garage price would be a lot closer to the e-retailer.

Do you mean more expensive than you had been quoted?

On line was a lot cheaper than anyone could do them even with the fitting.
Ordered them one day & they were delivered the next. Could not complain about quality or price. Very happy

Mate of mine was so impressed by the savings I was rattling on about he's ordered 4 of the same tyres via blackcircles and via the same fitters I will use. Be interesting to hear if it all goes smoothly. Fairly sure it will.

In general I found that there isn't one that is cheapest for all tyres and fitting. It can really vary between tyres, sizes, and time. Like with anything it is worth shopping around. I mean most recently my wife had a puncture that couldn't be repaired, a local tyre fitter was able to do it today/tomorrow for £280 per tyre, or next week when they bought it direct from the wholesale distributor for £235. Online it was about £260 with two days notice. But if you are doing the school run daily at 300 miles per week we wouldn't delay it, so paid for same day service.

Or like for my car, which was just worn down, I required 4 tyres. Most online were about £90, in shop fitted was £105, or £98 at Costco, but tyresonthedrive was £92 and they gave a 1 hour appointment on my driveway (the clue is in the name) on a Sunday. I would have spend more than £8 driving to any place, and then my wasted time etc. So I was able to spend more time with my family as well.

Price comparisons all vary, and cheapest isn't necessarily the best option. It all just depends on what ones priorities are.
