Buying Second Body

I currently have

20D
Tokina 12-24 f/4.0
Canon 50 f/1.8

I'm wanting a second body and wondering whether I should get the 30D or the 5D?

I'm thinking the money I save from buying a 30D over a 5D can go towards a telephoto lens so I've covered all areas.

Anyone else have any ideas?

From the look of your lens list you must be into wide angle photography so you'd definately get the benefit of the full frame sensor on the 5D. Joe's right though, I'm pretty sure the only super wide lens that is compatible with the 5D is the Sigma 12-24. If you want the camera mainly for zoom and close up then you're better off with the crop sensor on the 30D. All IMO of course ;)
 
The Sigma 14mm is also compatable, and is excellent. (IMO of course,!!)
 
I had the 20D and considered the same choices as you. I went for a 5D. If you like wide stuff, then I love the 17-40 L. I know I made the correct choice for me. The controls are in the same place and the 5D being full frame has enabled me to use the lenses in a different way for each of the cameras.:)
 
Having just got a 5D I'm starting to wonder if I really need the 20D now. I can't see me out and about with 2 bodies. Undecided....:thinking:

The 1.6 crop factor really does give you 2 lenses in 1, right?

So maybe the 5D is the best bet for me.
