So I can see that I can get better prices on eBay from HK and China-based suppliers than I could get from the like of Panamoz, HDEW, DigitalRev etc. But is a lens ordered direct more likely to be intercepted by Customs and the resultant charges therefore wiping out any savings?

Ive always been stung by customs and then the handling fee from the courier to kindly pay the import duty then charge you back + their admin charge (successfully argued and refunded)

I have been put off completely as the last lens was advertised as AF in the title, description and video and after much arguing agreed to take it back (at my expense to post it back) but the cost to post it back was not worth it so holding on to the lens and may sell it on .............

Discounting HMRC, (at your risk), what confidence do you have if things go wrong after purchase?

Might be worth reading the sticky at the top of this forum if you haven't already seen it. Here's the link to save you looking for it. https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/t...rey-imports-and-other-assorted-topics.512133/

Yes it is. Panamoz and HDEW will pay any fees, but an eBay seller won't
