Buying from Panamoz

I'm looking to buy the Canon 6D with 24-105mm lens and have found the price with Panamoz really attractive.

However, i have never purchased from these Hong Kong based companies before and am worried about being ripped off.

Have read a few reviews and they all seem favourable but was just wondering if anyone on hear can either recommend them or advise me to steer clear.

Another thing i'm concerned in any VAT and Duty I may have to pay, there website does say this is taken care off by them but is this really the case.

Any comments would be appreciated

For clarity, when you're buying from Panamoz, Digitalrev or a number of similar suppliers, you're buying from Hong Kong or elsewhere abroad, not the UK.

Nearly all of the price difference is accounted for by the fact that they are not including any VAT or applicable Duty in their price. You then become the importer of the camera into the UK and are liable to pay these taxes when it enters the country.

Often these companies will offer to reimburse you should your package be stopped at Customs. They are relying on the probability that it will not.

Warranty issues can be because Canon UK will not repair the camera under Warranty and the camera needs to go back to wherever Panamoz say for repair, which could be Hong Kong. Your warranty is with Panamoz not Canon.

Another point to realise is that Bank Transfer has no protection and neither does Paypal or any other third party payment option using your credit card.

I bought a 24-105 lens and then a 70d from them in the last few months, 1st time i paid by PayPal as not ordered from them before and was a little bit dubious but 2nd time by bank transfer.both orders arrived within 3-4 working days ,very well packaged, ,always got an email & tracking number to follow the parcels, so I can't fault them so far. I haven't yet had a " warranty claim" to deal with so can't comment on that but so far I would buy from them again without any hesitation.
 
I ordered a Canon 24-70 f2.8L MkII from Panamoz last wednesday and it arrived in perfect condition on monday morning this week. I also paid by bank transfer, as I have done a few times now, and I trust them implicitly as I've bought a few item from them in the past. The price you see on the website is the price you'll pay. If you do get any charges, as I did for a Eos M kit just before christmas, you will be reimbursed as soon as you send a copy of the bill to Panamoz (my amount was transferred back to my bank in less than 10 minutes). I've also had a warranty claim with Panamoz, a Sigma 150-500 OS had developed a problem after 11 months, and I contacted Panamoz by email. I was given a UK address to send the lens to, which I did with RMSD, and thought I was in for a long wait. However, after only a week I got an email asking me to confirm my address as they were sending a brand new lens out instead of having it repaired. It arrived at my door after only 11 days since I first contacted them which is much faster than some warranty claims I've had from the UK. Apparently, if I'd included a receipt for the postage it cost to send it RMSD they would of reimbursed that as well but I didn't know that at the time, but as the service was so good anyway I can live with that.
