Buying from outside the country you are in... same equipment you buy anywhere but can be cheaper...

Some examples of popular grey importers are Panamoz (Brighton-based), Digital Rev (Hong Kong) and Flash Camera (aka Kerso - based Scotland and sourced from the USA). They're generally cheaper as they're importing non-UK stock. In bypassing Canon UK there is a strong likelihood that they (Canon) will refuse to honour warranty claims, but the importers generally offer their own warranties in place of this.

So its not equipment from outside the country? I always thought it was.. can you explain more as I really dont understand non-authorised ?

I checked with canon and they will honor the warranty on any lens thats grey but not on bodies unless you have a UK reciept.. so people like kerso then canon will honor the warranty... dont know about other brands but deffo the case for canon..
so your saying it is stock from outside the country... two others seem to say I am wrong

I would have thought that all Nikon Cameras world wide are the same, (they are all made in the same place(s)) - I do not think that the "English" ones are made in a different place to say the US, HK or German ones, or to a different specification........ the differences would only be the power plug lead
The different between "grey" and "official" UK is:
1). Official UK - imported into the UK by an official Nikon UK dealer, and sold by a UK Nikon dealer, or
2). "Grey" - imported into the UK but not by an official Nikon UK dealer and sold by a non UK Nikon dealer, or supplied to the buyer from outside the UK.
Import duties, VAT etc, Nikon UK waranties are other issues and nothing to do with the physical condition or manufacture of the product

Canon UK buy directly from Canon Japan and get a "official importers badge " while Grey shops buy from Canon suppliers in Japan (not with Canons blessing and in some cases without the blessing of Customs & Excise
)Have a look through the multiple Grey threads before this one descends into the usual "smugglers, you're all tax evading criminals, think of the children"

The internet is now providing the nearest to a "perfect market" in economic terms that we have ever had, and it is something that we can all take advantage of ......... and in some cases it is covered by "let the buyer beware"

I posted `not really` in reply to you saying `Buying from outside the country you are in...` I should maybe have just said you were wrong, rather than trying to be a tad tactful.
