Hiya all,

I'm want to upgrade to the Canon 5D Mark III. I'm a student, so you know what it's like, being a little loss for money...After doing some looking online, I've seen a few shops based in China that sell them for a lot cheaper than over here in the UK. By cheaper, I'm talking instead of £3000 for body and lens, it's £2099. The shops say they are "Money Back Guaranteed" through Paypal, so do you think it's worth a shot buying from there?

Has anyone bought from any Chinese shops that they trust? Would anybody recommend buying from one?

Thank you in advance.

Have recently bought 2 flashguns from China with no problems and that includes quick delivery.

I have never had a problem with smaller less expensive items.
SKIP THE LENS if it is the standard issue with the camera, buy an upgrade, lots of great Sigma's out there.
Use Paypal from a credit card, belt and braces for security,
Jim

Just remember that China is the world capital of fakes. I've seen a number of electronic items which look like the real thing and act like the real thing, but they are copies/fakes. In my business (commercial electronics) there are fake branded goods going about and the only way to tell is to put them on the computer and check the electronic serial number OR take them apart. Taking them apart shows the differences immediately.

Quite a few months ago I was chatting to the manager of my local camera shop. He said that on one of their visits to an exhibition/show, a Canon rep told him they had seen a couple of fake lenses.

I'm not sure whether it was anecdotal or not, or whether it referred to lenses that were`cobbled together` from odd parts, rather than fully manufactured fakes, but it wouldn't surprise me tbh with the skills in China these days.
