I'm off to Rome are there savings to be had buying cannon equipment in mainland europe

In Rome, I suspect it will be considerably dearer than the UK unless well away from the tourist traps.

You may find air port shops cheaper then their counterparts, but they won't be as good as the best you can find in the uk

If you buy a lens in Rome, will it be grey?

For Nikon I believe that lenses are worldwide warranties. Not so for bodies though.

I bought my 35 in Nice from the high street and it was about the same as the UK. The major difference for a lot of kit with US prices is VAT and Europe has basically the same VAT rate. You may find something slightly cheaper depending on what shop is doing a deal but I very much doubt there will be a wholesale reduction in a European country compared to the UK.

As for grey I doubt it if its in the EU. Warranty should be covered everywhere in the EU.

Thanks for the advice guess you are right. I may take a peek while there. Thought it would be easy to find shops there on the net but can't see any
