Off into town tomorrow, to buy an SD card for my Nikon D3300. I want to get a higher rate card, as my current cards will not record the video from the D3300, if it set to the highest quality settings. The cards I have at the moment, are the low ratings type, they did not cost a lot. Wondering what sort of rating I should be looking at, and what sort of prices to be expecting to pay? I was thinking, maybe about £30 for a reasonable sized card, with a reasonable read write speed.

Just read some of the reviews, seems OK for photography, but a few have said it failed / froze while doing HD video. Wonder if they are genuine cards though?

I at least know what sort of size cards and write speeds to look out for, will pop into town tomorrow.

Thanks for taking the time to post :) .

PS

Card did look good, but it has a write speed of 76MB/s. One claimed their card achieved only 32mb/s. Probably struggle to save HD video at the highest quality setting.

I have used both SanDisk and Lexar never had any issues, currently I have a 64GB Class 10 Sandisk for my Sony A7, the same microsd for my GoPro4 never had issues(fingers crossed I never do)

Just I read the reviews on that particular card in the link, it seems it is OK for photos but maybe not video. It seems the write speed is a little slow for HD video, at the higher rate. Will check it out tomorrow anyway :).

Take in mind Amazon does have different sellers for each item, only items directly supplied by Amazon are legit, some sellers are known for selling knock-offs and I read some of the reviews and it seems there's a considerable difference between some of the units sold. I would suggest if you buy one to make sure you test it.

Some reviews did question the authenticity of that particular product, as with anything fakes can creep in..

I have a 32GB SDHC card that I think is class 4; TBH, I have never purchased super high speed cards as I haven’t found them greatly needed, I have never noticed a delay or slowness with mine. With my DSLR though, I tend to only shoot continuous up to about 4 minutes or so.

And be careful with ebay; lots of fakes a plenty there!

Transcend 32GB class (10) 800x times are great, never failed on me. Cheaper than Sandisk too. Got mine off Amazon.

Using the Sandisk Extreme 64GB now though for my Sony A7rii due to the large file sizes and 4K. Used to be in my GoPro. Hasnt failed on me yet!!
