Hi all, I couldn't see anything in the rules about naming and shaming so wanted to warn this fine community about this ebay seller.

I bought a lens from them last week, collected it and got it home and tested it. It was a Canon 20-35mm f3.5-4.5 USM. Upon testing it threw up an error 01 at anything below wide open; the aperture blades were not operating correctly.

I immediately asked to return it which they agreed to, and they have already processed my refund, which is brilliant.

BUT they immediately relisted the lens on ebay!!! This is despite me mentioning it in emails and on a note with the return!!

The funny thing is I would have kept it but Canon no longer repair it. So some other poor sap may end up buying this faulty lens, especially as they've listed it as the cheapest on there!

I can't leave negative feedback either as they cancelled the transaction after I returned it.

I can beat that :D

I once returned a faulty lens which was relisted immediately with no mention of the fault... and all whilst I was still fighting for a refund.

I approach evil bay like I would a pickpockets convention. I assume I'm dealing with people who will steal my money if I'm not extremely careful

Your link does not work, but I found them anyway.
Item listing says in 'good mechanical order'

I can assure you it is NOT in good mechanical order. They have literally just used the same listing as when I bought it. Unless disfunctional aperture blades come under some other heading. It zooms and focuses great though so I can see why they might think it's working ok! They're not a photography business.

How do I report the listing to ebay?

I also just wanted to add I tested this on two bodies, a 6d and 60d, and across a variety of apertures, and without fail it would throw up an error when out of maximum aperture. The lens is kaput unless you want to strip it and replace parts.

I would think that getting in touch with ebay would be your first action.
I don't know how easy that is.

Frustrating!

(I was just pointing out how they describe the lens)
