I have been burning photoshoots to DVD (making 2 copies each time), and I know this probably isn't the best method of backup but my question is - Is there an easy way that will take my photoshoot that might be 13GB big and burn it onto the 3 DVDs without me having to seperate pics into different folders or mess about saying I'll copy these files this time, and these next?

Thanks

What software are people using for burning to DVD?

Allan

I personally use Nero (v6). It's the market leader in burning software now, does every type of disc I need and in every way I need it.

Backing photos up, I split my photos into days/shoots, so my current photography drive looks like this

E:\
(List of folders)
07.03 30D First shots
07.05 Horwich flooding and thunderstorm
07.08 Healey Dell and Unsworth Cricket
07.15 Bury and Snake Pass
07.24 Hollingworth Lake
...and so on and so forth.

In those folders are the RAW files.

I just create a data disc in Nero, and drag a load of folders over, say 20 or so.
If Nero reports its too many I take a couple out. If not enough, I add a few more until I fill the disc. I then burn it.
I then do the same again on a new disc, starting from the next folder in the list.

Nice, easy and quick.

Thanks Bod, yer I sort of do the same at the mo - but for example if I do a dance shoot I might take 13GB of pics from that one night so I would then have to seperate it out as of perhaps those between 7pm and 7:30pm then 7:30 to 8pm etc and I was thinking this might take ages to do, so wondered if there was a magic prog that would do it.

Personally I would just use the windows status bar to roughly get it right

Have three folders prepared (like in the above list), say, for example :

09.09a Dance Shoot Part 1
09.09b Dance Shoot Part 2
09.09c Dance Shoot Part 3

Then just shift select 4.5 gigs worth of shots and put them in folder 1, same with folders 2 and 3 etc etc

Im not sure if there's a magic program to do it though. Maybe there is, but I personally have never come across one (not that I can think of anyway)

I use Nero 7 and have had a look through it for the feature you want but it's not there. Marcels idea seems to be tip of the day foir now.
