is there a way i can add a custom preset for a set of photos, ie i want to adjust the white balance or increase sharpness for a collection of photos as i upload them to lightroom (v 3) rather than individual as i do now

Working from memory, but I think if you go into import options, you can apply a preset on import

You have to create a preset 1st.

import one image from your set into LR. Adjust it as you need to then save it as a preset. (many tutorials on the web on how to do this)

Close down LR. Open LR and import your images with the selected preset added to the import dialogue. You can do an AUTO everything if you want to rather than use your own presets but I don't understand the point of that as it cannot tell what look you require.
