Hi Guys,

Im a sports photographer and I am just tidying/backing up my folders etc.

I have a question , I have several seasons of sports images on LR with subfolders of games captured that season, usually 20+ games per folder. The query I have is am I able to download/copy those albums in bulk that I have edited direct to my external drive or do I need to download one album at at time and copy to drive which I'm hoping I don't have to. The idea is that the hard drive could be opened on another Mac/PC with the edited albums there without the need for LR etc to view or download.

Anyone any ideas????

Have all your edited files been exported as say jpegs to the same folders?

Transfer catalog and photos to external drive?

I have read about this on several sites and Im still confused. I have a lightroom classic catslog and all associated photos on my Macbookpro (4tb drive). The main folder is all my photos from 2023. I want to back these up to an external drive and free the space on my computer for this years...

I have no idea to help answer your question but....

Why have you not exported your LR edited pictures? Unless you intend to re edit the files in the future I cannot see the point in keeping the old RAW (I assume) files - and from some brief experience of boxing photography - you have so many mare images than you probably should have. If you export what you need then surely the problem goes away? And you get hard drive space back.
