Bulb mode Canon 400d

Hello.

I have recently tried bulb mode on my camera with a remote release and found when using this mode it takes a long time for the information to be saved the the compact flash card... I.E. if i take an exposure for 45 secs it can then take another 60 secs + to write to the card so I cannot take another photo until this finishes.

Ist his normal? I'm sure I tried it last year and as soon and you close the shutter the information was instantaneous. Any information appreciated thanks.

Regards,

john

I dont think mine does this :S
I swear i've taken long exposures and shot straight away. Might be a bit slow processing, but no where near 1 minute.

i think it may be long exposure noise reduction, as this takes the same time as the exposure to run

Ahh :P
Well maybe I had it on a low ISO opposed to something higher then.

you can turn it off, so it takes instantly, i dont bother with it and use noise ninja if i have to

 Yes well done! Thats it! Just turned off noise reduction and took a 15 sec exposure and it worked straight afterwards. Then with Noise reduction in auto mode it took 18 secs... Thanks a lot.

Don't mind it taking that long as long as i know. Thanks for such a speedy reply too:thumbs: I will check out noise ninja too. Is this Freeware or is it software you can purchase?

Regards,

john
