Over the next month I will hope to look at upgrading my current monitor a viewsonic 21.5" widescreen to something better for photoshop.
I have a dedicated PC with a Canon Pro-100 and use it all exclusively for film use so photoshop is mainly for slight adjustments and then prepping for printing mainly on A3.

I need to keep the budget realistic? There is £300 in the kitty.
 
I use a Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24inch monitor which I bought after quite a bit of research and find it to be very good and at ~£200 leaves some in the pot for a calibration tool.

Me too. Not the best available, but seems to work well.

cheers I do have a calibration tool that I got free with my canon pro-100 something called a spyder?
