Having used both my d3000 and d5100's on board flash I can only say "it's limited"both with red eye and at any distance it just cant cope .Could anyone suggest a better compatible flash?

cost is a priority as I am a disabled user and money is tight, mainly used for family indoor stuff. So new or used is fine.

I ve looked on fleabay but it just seems so confusing!!! HELP!!!!!!!

Have just seen this on Amazon would it be OK on my D5100

I'm a Canon user, but I have positive experience of the Yongnuo range of flashes and they're a lot cheaper than OEM. See if Yongnuo manufacture Nikon copies. Amazon keep them.

Thanks Mitch , but went on fleabay and saw the VK750ii for £40 posted and could'nt stop myself hitting the buy it now button!!!!

I think Neewer must be another Yongnuo-type Chinese brand.

Going from the destruction manual, you're spot on ☺

I.e.: "when red light is twinkly", and

"when red light is non twinkly". ☺

I like twinkly red lights:exit:

I read a review and they say it's a relabeled Meike flash (copied more like)
I'll let you know what it's like after i have tried it

Well The flash has arrived.... First impressions are very good . Build quality is alot better than I expected for the price,Feels nice and solid, and it sat on my D5100 and worked without any fuss or bother!!!
Tried a couple of quick of the cuff indoor shots at it is certainly good enought for that with plenty of fill.
Is it better than the on camera flash? Hell yes!!.
Can also be set up as a slave flash, and has manual and ttl settings. so for £40 posted is it worth the money so far YES!!!

Need to get out and really push it to be honest, but for where I sit in the Photographic world it seems more than good. Remember though am just starting out. and many of your more seasoned snappers may not be so easily impressed
but for the budget driven guys and girls like me it's a no brainer
