Hi,

I am hoping to be able to ask for some advice. Recently I have started to take my photography a little more seriously but have really lacked the dedicated time. So I have decided to set myself a project and for both a holiday and some fun I hit upon Bucharest, cheap flights and varied locations.

Its currently pretty cold -12 or so and snowy so I was wondering if anyone had any advice for partiucalrly good locations to shoot and times in Bucharest, or if anyone knows of any good palces to do some online research.

Hope you can help

Hi,

I've been to Bucharest a couple of times. I'm only really getting into photography - been taking pics with my point and shoot for a while but never dedicated much time/effort to it.

Bucharest itself isn't the prettiest of cities, though there is some nice architecture, a lot of the old stuff has been very badly maintained, and building regulation is pretty haphazard, so there is sometimes weird juxtapositions of old and new. Some of which would be pretty interesting depending on what you are into.

I also went to a place called Brasov which is an hour or two north on a train from Bucharest, just in the Transylvanian mountains. It's a very pretty old town with some nice architecture - on the way there on the train is some nice scenery, but again lots of decay and strange juxtaposition of beautiful countryside with weird dilapidated industrial buildings etc.

Here's a few pics I took - they're not amazing and just taken with my Canon Ixus 60 but might give you an idea of what it's like.

The big palace in Bucharest is Ceaucescu's (sp?) old palace, now a museum I think - it's ridiculously huge.
