Planning to head down there this week to get a shot of probably the most photographed mountain in the UK but not sure to go for a sunrise or sunset. I'm obviously thinking sunset would be better (as I will be facing west) but if anyone who has been there has any other suggestions I'd be very grateful. Will probably head further down to Loch Lomond as well to catch a shot of the Millarochy Tree.

Thanks,
Iain

Sunrise puts the best light on the bits that face the road!

...especially if you want the cottage in it too.

...and you could do Lochan na Achlaise first at sunrise and then do Buachaille afterwards.

Never thought of that, exactly the kind of info I was after, cheers!

Sunrise for sure, facing away from the sun, you are several thousand feet up, this aint no seascape, but the time the sun rises above the hills its fairly strong. The light won't hit the hill for a good few minutes until after the sunrise you get off the weather timescales. Whole area flatters early AM golden hour. Loch Etive too is worth a shout, Lochan Na h-Achlaise.

Sunset at Ballahulish or Loch Linnhe maybe but best is late evening light at Kilchurn castle in the winter

Just had a look at the Photographer's Ephemeris. As the sun sets a bit north of west just now and in that diection from the hill is Aonach Eagach I reckon a lot of the setting sun will lost. Sunrise as already mentioned is a better prospect.
