Bt smart hub trouble

Anyone got a Bt smart hub and having problems? Ours just keeps cycling through the different coloured lights never seeming to connect
This happens randomly - the other day we had a power cut and the hub was off for four hours!
Driving me nuts!
 
It's working fine at the moment- just keep having random issues
 
Complain enough and they might send you the latest model.
 
Mine has done this intermittently. I find that rebooting it usually works. However, a while back it got really bad, playing up every other day, until one morning it wouldn't connect at all and I discovered there were several BT people on their hands and knees in the cabinet up the road. It's worked perfectly ever since - not a single glitch. So it could be a slight and intermittent fault in the line.
 
Yep mine does it occasionally round about 1pm-ish, loads of work going on round here updating the network
and it doesn't last long.
After a power cut it could be the entire exchange needs a reboot to bring things back, had that happen where I used to live
 
The exchange will be ups/generator backed up.

If you power off your router then when every 15 mins when the line is checked for activity the line is reset if it cannot see a connection. Hence the comment about switching off for 20 mins.

Not sure if that still applies to fibre mind you, was always a good trick for ADSL.
 
My BT Smart Hub did this a couple of weeks ago - after a few tests on the line, the solution involved a hard reset of the hub (paper clip in the little hole at the back). combined with the person from BT doing a 'reset' on my line (I've no idea what she actually did, but that is how she explained it).

Then all I had to do was return all my custom settings to the Smart Hub...
