Bruja's 52 is back :) + Grace

This is my interpretation of Grace.

It was shot handheld at ISO 1000, 1/5s, f10, 200mm, so it's a bit grainy :(

Definitely the pano crop of relaxation for me Jill.
And now that the weather's got dull and miserable again here, I'm getting just as jealous as I did at this stage in last year's 52.

I don't know about full size, but sized for here the graininess in grace really isn't an issue. I'm guessing by the high ISO that this was shot inside a church or something????

It's a beautiful piece. Lovely stonework and you've captured the detail in it brilliantly (especially given the lighting conditions)
I'm finding the sepia tones in it a bit too much though, I feel like it would benefit from some slight desaturation.

Yes Sarah, shot in a church with a mix of electric and candlelight.

I've reposted it destaturated a bit. Any better?

I like the pano crop for relaxation, but I like the bathers even more. It is a lovely shot - they are so obviously enjoying themselves and look so carefree. You have done brilliantly with the exposure, keeping detail in the foam.

Grace doesn't look grainy to me and you have done really well to get the shot under such conditions. I find the colour a bit overpowering, though.

Very good Jill, not easy in those conditions and you've done a wonderful job on it. Loads of details, and not noisy.

Thanks Tracer. Glad you like the bathers :D and I've desaturated the Grace pic too, we must have cross posted ;)

Thanks John.

 definitely loads better for me.
Thanks for the advice Sarah, it looks much better now ;)

Hi Jill, I prefer your original relaxation shot. I love the colours and it shouts out relaxation. Yes, the tyre tracks are a nuisance but I would have cloned them out rather than cropped them.

Grace is a lovely simple image and bang on theme, although I think I may have preferred it even more desaturated.

Hi Jill - I'm still trying to re-catch up! I'll get there eventually. :)

Art: Beautiful colours enhanced by the lighting. Superb presentation. Very dinitely Art.:clap::clap:

Relaxation: This is deceptively simple - the composition is classic rule of thirds and I find myself keep going back to look at more detail in the family group. You might not think it one of your best - but imo it's got loads of merit. I think the pano would work if you took some sky out as well, making it more like a banner - just my two penn'orth! :)

Grace: Beautiful subject matter, but they both look a bit 'cut off' and while I love really tight crops, I think this one cries out for a square frame. I didn't see the original version, but I think the gentleness of the figures would be better suited to a bit more desat. I hope that doesn't sound overly critical, it's just my thoughts. :)

Well done on getting back on track with some great images, Jill.
