Brooklands Aviation Day

Touchdown at Brooklands Museum for a kerosene fuelled day of aviation antics and activities.

Organised in Partnership with the W.I.A., this promises to be a day like no other at the Museum. The emphasis is towards the skies as we dedicate the whole site to Brooklands’ rich and varied connection with all things aviation.

The timetable for the day is as follows:

10.00 Museum opens
10.45-11.30 *Visiting aircraft arrivals (strictly by invitation only)
11.30 Hot Air Balloon tethered launch (front of Paddock) – to be confirmed
12.00-12.30 Talk – ‘Filming from the Air’

12.30-12.45 Demoiselle & Sopwith Camel aero engine runs*
12.45-13.15 Women in Aviation Tour (meet at the Shell Pagoda)
13.00-13.30 Talk – ‘Aviation from a Personal Perspective’
by Thai Airways’ Airport Traffic Co-ordinator Sari Khamppi
13.30 – 13.45 Airfield Vehicles Parade (starting near Press Hut/Car Bays)
14.00-14.15 Demoiselle & Sopwith Camel aero engine runs*
14.15-14.45 Talk – ‘Aviation from a Personal Perspective’
by Oliver Thomas (airline cabin crew)
14.45-15.15 Women in Aviation Tour (meet in Shell Pagoda)
15.00-15.30 Vintage Flying Display (best seen from the Aircraft Park)*
15.30-16.00 Visiting aircraft depart
17.00 Museum closes

Talks will take place in the Napier Room in the Clubhouse
Workshops take place in the Education Centre (next to Discovery)
Landings will take place on the airstrip at Mercedes-Benz World

Additionally there will be trade stalls, exhibitors, open cockpits and a host of organisations from various fields to provide you with learning opportunities, career advice and information. You will have the chance to meet navigators, pilots, technicians, cabin crews and Air Cadets who will all be willing to chat to you.

The Museum’s displays of other aircraft, vehicles and motorcycles will be open as usual and your normal admission price will give you access to the whole site including London Bus Museum. The Concorde Experience will be running timed virtual flights which are charged extra (see home page for details).
