I dug my Bronica SQA out the other days for the first time in months and took it out for a walk or two. Everything worked fine but the mirror foam has had it and I found bits on top of the ground glass so who knows where else it is getting in to.

Can anyone recommend a decent place for getting the Bronica spruced up that won't cost the earth?

The name which crops up most of the time on here is Miles Whitehead he charges about £40 for a thorough service and most seem happy with his work, a friend had his A-1 repaired and was very satisfied, took about 2 weeks and it came back good as new :)

He just did a CLA and new seals and mirror bumpers on my Mamiya M645J. Looks great, I'm just finishing off the first roll of film through it since I got it back.

If it's just the seals that need doing why not do them yourself? It's an easy enough job if you're methodical and take your time.

I get my seals from Jon Goodman, (Interslice on ebay). Even if he doesn't advertise a set for the Bronica a quick email to him should sort you out.

He doesn't advertise on eBay anymore, has too much trouble with people impersonating and copying what he does, so he asks people to contact him directly now.

Cheers Rob & Rob, I was expecting double that price, so I'm pleasantly surprised. I'll contact him after payday to sort something out I hope.

If it was just the light seals Nick I'd do it myself, I've done them before but the mirror foam I'm more sceptical about as I've heard nasty things happen if your not careful with the silver coating on the mirror.

It is not that difficult - especially on MF. The silvery part of the mirror is on the other side of the glass anyway. I did 2 of my MF cameras without too much trouble. Should you decide to do it yourself, this eBay seller Camera Repair Materials is a good chap and sells foam seals of different thickness. I did get a material from him for my two repairs.

If people can do it with 35mm cameras, with their inherently much smaller reflex mirror housings, medium format should be a breeze. Some tweezers and a bit of patience go far.
