Hopefully a simple one. My Bronica SQA appears to only be firing at the mechanical speed of 1/500. I'm just dry firing it with no film in. The battery check light is illuminating okay. Same whichever lens I fit.

I assume I need a new battery but since the check light is operating, just thought I'd ask and see if I should check anything else...

It is possible that there is enough juice left to power the battery check light, but not enough draw for the electronic shutter.

What kind of battery are you using? Bronica recommends a silver-oxide battery, says that alkaline are okay, but discourages the use of lithium batteries.

Cheers RJ. Seems to be silver oxide. I think I'll order a new one an go from there.

Oh, I forgot to mention that it might also be worth cleaning the contacts in the battery compartment and/or the contacts where the lens and the camera connect.

Hopefully one of the above suggestions does the trick for you, but I have previously encountered this problem myself and I ended up having to send my SQ-A out for repair. Works perfectly fine now though.
