Hi,

I’ve recently brought a Canon 50mm 1.8 lens, which was working very well until my camera accidently slid off my bed. It landed lens down breaking something inside that attaches the lens to the focus ring. Anyway I took this to an approved canon repairer today and they have quoted me £61 + VAT to get repaired. Now considering this only cost my £65 in the first place imp reluctant to pay this. Does anyone know of any cheaper ways of doing this??

Thanks
Tom

Not sure about repairing it yourself, but I wouldn't bother getting it repaired, might as well get a new one. Unlucky :(

mighta' well buy a new one if its the same price as a repair.
Only option is a canon certified repair if you want guarentee :) sorry :/

Own one of these myself, so flimsy but oh so good!

not really. Buy a new one and sell the old one as faulty on Ebay.

+1

You'll get a bit for it on Ebay as it's a cheap enough lens for someone to have a go at trying to repair, or it's a useful starting point for someones next modding project.

As above, sell it on as faulty, and buy a new one from Kerso on here - think his current new price is £75 del.

Glad it was only the lens that broke
