Yes
I have used my Olympus OM-1 camera at the weekend during a family meet but when I arrived at the end of the 36 exposure the film broke inside the camera. I have no idea why as I didn't experienced any jamming. I only noticed when I opened the camera back for one second to take the film out that something went wrong. I do not know what to do now. I guess no shop will be able to salvage the film which is in the camera but didn't feedback in the canister? Do you think the entire is ruined from briefly opening the back?

Is their a way to process colour film (superia 1600 iso) using black and white developing technics? I'm asking this because a friend of mine develop black and white and I'm sure we would be able to take the film out of the camera and put it in the developing tank.

He could probably remove it from the camera in a changing bag and attach it to a film end in an old cassette and wind it back in.

Then you can have it processed properly.

Steve.

Its probably not ruined everything, I've done this before and only wated a couple of shots or three. If your friend develops his own the chances are he has dark bag, you should be able to unload the film in the dark bag and rewind it manual back into the canister.
Hope everything turns out ok.

Andy

Thanks for the tip guys. Sadly I'm an idiot... I opened the canister to make sure they wasn't film left in it because they wasn't any jamming I add no idea where it had broken, and though maybe it had broken half way through.

But yes I can have access to a dark bag. What I could do is used a 1£ roll of film, empty the film, cut the film, tape the end of my film to this receiver film, and manually wind up my film back to it, and give it to a normal lab?
Then maybe a problem would be that lab use the barcode on the canister to know what film is, mine being 1600iso it will be quiet different.

I have two local camera shop that only develop 35mm colour film, I'm going to give them a visit to see if they can help in a minute.

They should be able to help you out, if they can't then theyre not up to much imho, even Snappy Snaps can sort out a broken film in a camera.

Might be sorted soon. The guy at the shop will give me a 35mm reloadable canister so I can used the dark bag to have the film loaded in the canister. The guy at the shop is really helpful and knowledgeable. It's just a shame that most photo shop nowadays do not do 35mm black and white, slide or any 120 film. I would use them much more often if they did. I usually get all my film by the post.

Yeah it is a shame; I don't know of a single shop anywhere close to me that does any B&W or E6 in house, they all send it off and it takes weeks. There are only two places even close to me that do C41 120, one is about 90 minutes away in Bristol and luckily the other is about 6 miles from my house, or a 5 minute drive from where I work. Unfortunately they don't seem to care too much about scratching my negs so they don't really get used much lol. Like you I send my C41 & E6 stuff off in the post!

I think there is only even one shop in my town that does 35mm C41 now (Boots), but they charge £5 for dev only! My local Tesco, Asda & Morrisons etc don't do any film anymore, so options are somewhat limited
