Hi i am after some advice on the best settings i can use on my canon 350 d with my tamron 70-300 mm lens. so i can improve the images i have been taking through out the past couple of years that i have been taking these kind of photos.

After a quick look I would suggest dropping shutter speeds - some are between 1/1000th and 1/2000th second which freezes the action including the rotating parts of the bike - wheels, tyres, chain etc.,

So, I would suggest Tv mode, setting shutter speed to 1/250 - 1/500 area for a front 3/4, using AI servo mode and adjusting ISO up or down to achieve the f/stop you want.

For sideways panning you can lower the shutter speed considerably, but you need to practise your panning motion.

And set your camera so you choose the focus point, rather than the camera.
