Hi, I'm down in Bristol next week for the Balloon fiesta, can anyone point me in the direction of any good photo spots for during the afternoons when I will be at a loose end please? (preferably non balloon related)

The docks . Warehouses along with the vessels on the water.

SS Great Britain
Ashton Court
Coloured houses in Hotwells
Harbourside (and harbour bridge)
Banksy graffiti in various places. Lots of other good graffiti too.

All pretty close.

Across from where the Balloon Festival is held is the Cumberland Basin (large concrete flyovers/bridges) where you can get some shots up the gorge toward Brunel's Suspension Bridge and walking from the Cumberland Basin (past Brunel Lock Road and between the 'Nova Scotia Hotel' & 'The Pump House) in the direction of the SS Great Britain will take you to a number of Ferry stops (water ferries) for a tour around the waterfront.
The famous Corn Street ('on the nails') with its market stalls is not too far from the waterfront, across the City Centre - plenty of people-watching/street photography opportunities as well as plenty of spots for coffee/beer and 'ethnic' foods as well as sarnies.

Thanks everyone this is great info. I'm particularly interested in the water front - being from land locked Northants! - So I will be hoping to get to ride the ferries. No doubt I will get to see Ashton court as well.
