Her indoors fancies a visit to the new Bristol zoo, we watched a few videos, but everything seems to be behind heavy mesh cages. Is it worth a visit from a photographic point of view?

I'd say it's probably 50/50 really. There are some areas and animals that are more open but quite a few of the animals are indeed behind heavy mesh and not always easily visible imo.

I wouldn't go purely for photography I don't think. And from what I've seen there, I probably wouldn't actually pay to go in tbh.

"Bristol Zoo Project" is nowhere near as good as the old, original Bristol Zoo, which was excellent in its day. The new site is basically a holding area until they get the funds etc to create a new zoo. I've been there a couple of times with my son & his kids as they have an annual pass, and it's not bad from that perspective, but it's not particularly great for photography.

Thank you both. As it's a bit of run and not cheap, I'll likely give it a miss then. (y)

+1, not worth a longish trip imo. Paignton Zoo is really nice though, although appreciate that's even more of a trek, but there are other photo opportunities down

Noah's ark zoo, South of Bristol, is okay but there is a lot of wire.

of course you could alwas go to a zoo and watch the people watching the animals I suppose.:runaway::ROFLMAO:

What about the houses of Parliament? Thats one hell of a zoo!! Lots of wild beasts in there!
